Contemporary family garden ~ Langford
Clients’ brief:
My clients and their young family live a busy working from home lifestyle and their garden came sharply into view during the first Covid lockdown. Needing their outdoor space to give the children room to play and space for Mum and Dad to relax and entertain when friends and family could once again be included. The garden was majorly over-looked by neighbouring eyelines at close proximity and the featureless garden led the eye straight out beyond the fence to housing across the road. This garden needed help and it needed a good contemporary garden design.
My design response ~
Taking in my clients wishes and adding a little Judi-know-how.. we created a simply beautiful, modern garden that’s fit for pleasure and fun for all. Using contemporary materials with a twist of characterful charm ~ focus materials are porcelain paving with contrasting bullnose steps that compliment the house brick. The lawn has been skillfully framed with Baksteen clay pavers to combine colours and keep the lawn mower off the porcelain.
A stand-out feature is the bespoke planter which is designed to have a beautiful olive tree (not yet planted at time of photography) to really enhance the Mediterranean feel in this sunny south-facing garden. The wall screens and lighting really add great design detail to an otherwise repetetive, featureless wall.. New builds can be very brick-heavy, as housing is at close proximity ~ by adding details to walls to distract and give interest and focus, all can be transformed.
There are now lots of talking points in this modern family garden ~ delighted that my clients tell me how much they love their new outdoor space.
