Client brief:
Clients want a contemporary garden design for their new build blank canvas. A young family working from home and their garden has come into view, especially during the Covid lockdown. Outdoor space is needed to give the children room to play while Mum and Dad entertain friends and family. The garden was over-looked by neighbours and the featureless garden led the eye straight out to housing across the road. This garden needs a complete transformation with a good contemporary garden design.
Design response
Listening to the client’s wishes and adding a little Judi-know-how, we created a simply beautiful modern garden that’s fit for pleasure and fun for all. The design included porcelain paving with contrasting bullnose steps to complement the house brick. The outline of the lawn is framed with Baksteen clay pavers to create a mowing strip.
A stand-out feature is the bespoke planter designed for a beautiful olive tree (not yet planted at time of photography) to enhance the Mediterranean feel in this sunny south-facing garden. The wall screens and lighting add great design detail to an otherwise repetitive, featureless wall. New builds can be very brick-heavy, as housing can be dense. We added garden screens to the house walls to enhance the overall garden design.
There are now lots of talking points in this family garden and we are delighted clients tell me how much they love their new outdoor space.
