Client brief:
Clients invited us to develop their garden and create lots of opportunities for wildlife to feed and nest. Whilst creating a great garden for local wildlife to enjoy it is important that the planting scheme is low maintenance too. I designed bespoke brick garden planters with stone coping to compliment the house brick, combining old-style charm with more contemporary materials. The two raised beds are built with sandstone brick are the perfect height for reducing bending while gardening. We added smooth sandstone coping stones on the top of the planters, to double up as informal seating. Building garden planters helps clients to maintain their garden and takes some of the strain out of gardening at ground level.
Garden steps with bullnose profiles always create a softer, complimentary leading edge and combine well with sandstone walling bricks.
We relocated a tired concrete terrace to the back of the garden, where clients access their water butts and sheds. We understand how important safe and easy access is around the garden. Selecting sandstone paving for this south-facing garden really enhances the look of new terrace. Adding a pathway through the garden is a perfect level and safe surface. Making gardening jobs around the garden so much easier for our clients.
Our clients loved the idea of a wildflower meadow which we positioned in front of their neighbour’s black barn. The contrast of the native wildflowers with the black-painted barn looks beautiful. It just works perfectly! Thanks go to Wildflower Turf for providing great advice and installation guidance for the wildflower turf.
