Client brief:
The clients wanted to remove their old, unstable sandstone terrace and replace it with a more modern, durable porcelain paving solution. After exploring several options for the new garden terrace paving, we decided that Global Stone’s Siena range was ideal. The colour ‘Gerusalem’ perfectly matched, blending seamlessly with the existing stone detailing of our client’s house. This porcelain paving offers a timeless yet contemporary look to enhance the overall aesthetic of the outdoor space.
To create a focal point on the terrace, we installed a 1m wide steel globe water feature. Measuring one metre across, this feature has a significant impact on the visual balance of the garden. Its reflective steel surface captures and mirrors the surrounding house, trees, and sky, adding a dynamic visual effect. This feature brings movement and tranquillity to the garden while complementing the contemporary paving.
The existing Thuja plicata hedges on either side of the terrace frame the space beautifully, providing structure and natural elegance. Their rich green foliage contrasts wonderfully with the warm tones of the porcelain paving, making the terrace feel inviting. The symmetrical positioning of these hedges enhances the sense of balance and enclosure within the terrace garden.
The completed terrace offers the perfect setting for relaxation, entertaining, and enjoying the outdoor space in style. With durable, low-maintenance porcelain paving and a contemporary water feature, the space now boasts function and beauty. The new design allows seamless indoor-outdoor living, creating a stylish and practical extension of our client’s home. Every detail, from the paving choice to the water feature, was carefully selected to enhance the garden. The result is a refined, welcoming space that perfectly suits the client’s needs and aesthetic wishes.
