Stevenage new build garden design

Clients’ brief:

This was a blank canvas of a garden and the design installation was undertaken in autumn 2016.  Clients had recently bought their new-build in Stevenage and were ready to take on the garden, which was simply laid to lawn by the developers.

My clients wanted an expanse of patio and really liked my initial design idea of a sandstone patio with raised timber decking area planted with a beautiful feature tree growing up through an aperture within the deck.

One year after installation the planting and the garden have really developed very well with all the plants stock settling in and putting on good growth.

I designed two different styles of garden and each with their own planting plans to enhance and co-ordinate with the hard landscaping and structures in each garden. A strong colour-palette was preferred by my clients for the garden boundary, and the planting is both dynamic and floriferous for each of the two very distinct garden styles.

The cottage garden has several beautiful small form garden trees with beautiful leaf form, colour and berries for interest right across the seasons. Pleasing to pollinators and people alike. I also included some flowering evergreens in the planting plan for some strategic privacy planting, as well as some cottage garden classics.
