Client brief:
Letchworth Golf Club Planting Design
Letchworth Golf Club contacted me about our planting design service. After an on-site meeting to discuss ideas, they invited me to redesign the boundary behind Hole No.1. The overgrown, dark border needed a transformation, not only to enhance the course but also to improve visibility from the clubhouse.
To ensure a smooth process, we met with adjoining neighbours to present our plans. They were delighted with the proposal to remove the old Leylandii, which would open their view to the golf course and increase light in their garden.
After researching tree options and defining the desired effect, we selected bright, deciduous trees to bring life to the space. Using a mood board as a discussion tool, we explored different species and ultimately chose two striking varieties of Acer. Alternating these trees along the boundary enhances the ‘wow factor’ while adding seasonal interest.
Barcham Trees supplied these beautiful specimens, providing expert planting advice and aftercare tips to ensure their long-term success.
Special thanks to Brigitte Fiedler De Amparan for illustrating the boundary trees in our planting design presentation. We were thrilled to see our plans displayed in the clubhouse foyer for all members and visitors to view.
